The Rev. Fr. Steven J. Kelly, SSC

Since February of 2001 Fr. Kelly has served as the Rector of St. John’s, having served previously as Rector of St. Mary’s Church in Charleroi, PA (1996-2001) and as Curate at The Church of the Good Shepherd in Rosemont, PA (1994-1996). 

After high school at St. Mary’s Preparatory in Orchard Lake, Michigan, Fr. Kelly attended The University of Pennsylvania and Temple University in Philadelphia, receiving a degree in Political Science. He was on the Lightweight Rowing team, a member of The Psi Upsilon Fraternity, and the First Troop Philadelphia City Cavalry

He attended seminary at Nashotah House Theological Seminary and was ordained a deacon by the late Bishop Edward MacBurney, SSC and a priest by Bishop Keith L. Ackerman, SSC of the Diocese of Quincy, IL. He is a priest of the Society of the Holy Cross (Societas Sanctae Crucis), a Congregation of priests in the Anglican Communion, who live and minister under a common Rule of Life.

Fr. Kelly is married with 4 children. When not involved with parish and family activities he can be found rowing on the Detroit River with the Detroit Waterfront Rowing Association, swimming at The Detroit Athletic Club, or trying not to embarrass himself as a member of the amateur all-male theatre group, The Players
