Keep Growing Detroit
Keep Growing Detroit (KGD) envisions a city where the majority of fruits and vegetables Detroiters consume are grown by residents within our city limits. Their talented staff operate a number of established and nationally recognized programs, including the Garden Resource Program and Grown in Detroit. They help foster healthy relationships to food, grow knowledge of food and farming, and cultivate community connections. Their strategic approach to achieving their mission facilitates beginner gardeners becoming engaged community leaders and food entrepreneurs, addressing the immediate needs of the community while promoting sustainable change in Detroit’s food system.
Crossroads is a social service outreach agency with two locations in Detroit. Founded in 1971, Crossroads exists to support the community at large by providing emergency assistance, advocacy, and counseling to anyone in need. Partnering with many other agencies, parishes, hospitals, and companies in the metro area, Crossroads offers assistance in the form of a hand-up. They work with clients to meet immediate needs and help assess their situations to lessen the likelihood of future problems.
We are happy to be serving Germack Coffee on Sunday mornings and at most of our gatherings at St. John’s. The Germack Family began roasting in Detroit’s Eastern Market in 1924. Germack Coffee beans are responsibly selected from the finest growers around the world. The raw beans are delivered to their roasting facility in historic Eastern Market, where they are blended and roasted locally in small batches. We love good coffee, and we appreciate local businesses that serve and support our neighborhood.
