David Heinze – Organ Scholar

David Heinze is currently studying for a Bachelors of Music in Organ Performance at Hope College under Dr. Huw Lewis; he also studies piano/chamber music with Dr. Andrew Le and is minoring in German. David is a honors graduate of Interlochen Arts Academy as well as an alumnus of Interlochen Arts Camp. While at the Academy he studied organ with Thomas Bara and piano with Evan Kory. David has formally studied piano since the age of seven and organ since he was nine. In addition to his keyboard studies, David studied voice with Scott Bosscher. David has performed in cities such as Cambridge, U.K., Toronto, Philadelphia, Interlochen, Grand Rapids, and Ann Arbor.

David was the organist of the Latvian Lutheran Church in Grand Rapids from 2009 to 2011. From 2013-2015 David served as Organ Scholar at Trinity United Methodist Church in Grand Rapids, Michigan under Christopher Dekker. Additionally, From 2014-2015 he was an Organ and Choral Scholar in the Grand Rapids Choir of Men and Boys.

After completing his musical education, David hopes to build a career in church music.  In his spare time David likes to read, cook, practice speaking German, work out at the gym and spend time with family and friends. He also enjoys traveling to Europe to visit family in Latvia.
